Release date, pre-release dates, chase cards and the products to expect from the sixth main set of the Mega Evolution era – plus whether to buy Japanese Storm Emeralda instead.

Quick facts

  • Release date: 6 November 2026
  • Pre-release events: 24 October to 1 November
  • Headline card: Mega Rayquaza ex
  • Japanese equivalent: Storm Emeralda (out now in Japan)
  • Series: Mega Evolution (sixth main expansion)

What is Delta Reign?

Mega Evolution – Delta Reign is the next main Pokémon TCG expansion in English, arriving on 6 November 2026. It’s the English release of Japan’s Storm Emeralda, which launched in Japan on 31 July – so if you’ve been following Japanese spoilers, you’ve already seen most of what’s coming.

It’s the sixth main expansion of the Mega Evolution era, and it lands late in the block. That gives it extra weight for collectors, because the back end of a block is when many people start thinking about which sets to pick up before stock dries up.

The Mega Evolution era has been a mixed bag. Chaos Rising, Pitch Black and Perfect Order haven’t captured the same attention as earlier sets like Ascended Heroes. The good news is that you can still pick up a lot of that product at or very close to retail – and while the collector value might not be there yet, there are some genuinely great cards across all of them.

Mega Rayquaza ex leads the set, and pre-release events run from 24 October to 1 November, so you can try the cards before the full launch.

Chase cards

Mega Rayquaza ex is the headline card, in both full art and gold. It leads a line-up of four Mega ex Pokémon, alongside Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex and Mega Malamar ex.

Beyond Rayquaza, the Japanese Storm Emeralda set has already shown off some beautiful cards. The Trainers are a highlight: Legendary Summit, one of the set’s new Legendary Stadium cards, is stunning, and Zinnia’s Trust is a personal favourite here.

Products to expect

Expect the usual line-up: Elite Trainer Boxes, booster boxes, booster bundles and blisters, plus a Build & Battle Box for pre-release. Not sure which suits you? Our guide to Elite Trainer Box vs booster bundle vs booster box breaks down what’s inside each.

The Pokémon Center release is expected any day now. At the time of writing, Pokémon Center is restricting purchases to one item per person – so only one ETB for UK buyers.

Japanese or English: which should you buy?

You can already get your hands on the Japanese set (we stock Storm Emeralda boxes and packs), and prices are starting to soften. Some collectors prefer Japanese anyway, with better card quality one of the reasons they give. If you’re collecting and value matters less, Japanese gets you the same beautiful art at a lower cost.

Japanese boxes are also more consistent about what each box contains, so you’re more likely to see a decent spread of hits from a single box than with English – though no box is a guarantee. More in our guide to Japanese vs English Pokémon cards, or browse Japanese Pokémon.

FAQ

When does Pokémon TCG Delta Reign release?

6 November 2026 in English, with pre-release events from 24 October.

Is Delta Reign the last Mega Evolution set?

It’s the sixth main expansion of the Mega Evolution era. Some coverage calls it the final main set of the block, but The Pokémon Company hasn’t confirmed what comes next, and special sets and product waves may still appear around it.

Is Delta Reign the same as Storm Emeralda?

Yes – Delta Reign is the English version of Japan’s Storm Emeralda.

Which card is the main chase?

Mega Rayquaza ex is the headline card – but take a look at the lovely artwork on the Kecleon, which you can pick up for under £10.

Also on our radar: the 30th anniversary set is still the hottest product around, but it’s hard to get your hands on, with queues around the block. Despite reportedly record print runs, demand is still very high, and delays on Pokémon Center are adding to the frustration.
